On the 6th April 2008, his Excellency, Lt. General Andrew Ridgway, C.B. C.B.E., Lieutenant Governor of Jersey, and his wife joined us for a service of Holy Communion.
Receiving our guests were our Minister, Rev Randolph Scott, M.A. B.D., his wife, Louise, Boyd Bennie, Secretary to the Board of Management. and Rena Menzies, Session Clerk.
After the Service, The Governor and his wife joined members of the congregation for tea/coffee and fellowship in the Church Hall.
During his time in the Church Hall, after the service, the Governor and his wife met Paul and Beatrice Okumu from Kenya, who work in the Jersey hospitality industry. They have become temporary members of our church. Some time ago, Paul gave a talk about his village called Nyalkinyi, which is in western Kenya, near Homa Bay, to members of the St Helier Churches Unity Group. From this talk came the "Nyalkinyi Project" which you can read about in another blog.
